Yup. I guess there's a difference in the quality of the newer vs. older ones. I compared them directly, and didn't see much of a difference. I've concluded it's cult thing.

I had SUL mask, and there's no way you could get a ball in between those bars. They're incredibly light, and if you're doing mulitple games it's a plus. But they're fairly flat, and transfer a lot of energy to your brain. I prefer a more rounded frame, that deflects rather than absorbs. I heard there was a problem with the early SUL's, that was corrected quickly. I never had a structual problem with mine. I was quite stout, and I'd use it again if I were doing softball games.
