Watching the Braves/Tigers game on TBS, the play-by-play guy just answered a question from a fan. The fan asked if the DH can bat for a player other than the pitcher and the announcer said that he can.

My understanding is that the DH must bat for the pitcher. OBR 6.10(b) says "a hitter may be designated to bat for the starting pitcher and all subsequent pitchers."

Is there another rule that I'm missing that allows the DH to bat for anyone?
