MLBUM: A player may go into foul territory to back up an appeal AFTER the ball is put in play.

5.02 Fielding Positions
When the ball is put in play at the start of, or during a game, all fielders other than the catcher shall be on fair territory.

Fielders only have to be in fair territory at the point of putting the ball n play. After that hey can move anywhere .
