ISF Illegal Glove
Under ISF rules only the catcher and first baseman may use mitts.
Here's the situation. Batter bunts down 3B line. F5 make a barehand pickup and throws out the batter-runner at 1B. Offensive coach protests that F5 was wearing a mitt. What's your ruling please. |

Quote:
Sec. 3. THE BATTER-RUNNER IS NOT OUT. When a fielder makes a play on a batter-runner while using an illegal glove. EFFECT - Sec. 3: The manager of the offended team has the option of (a) Taking the result of the play, or (b) Having the player resume batting, assuming the ball and strike count prior to the pitch, with other runners returned to the base held at the time of the pitch. I guess this comes down to the "wearing" of the illegal glove, or "using" an illegal glove. IMO, the illegal glove was not used or did it have an affect, on the play. I have no additional ruling on the play, but I'm probably telling the coach the fielder needs to change the glove or leave the field.
