My records (emails) show I was the first to advise it was impossible to balk on a move to second. I think Tim was the first to write: IIITBTSB.

The idea has been part of my balk lecture since the early 70s. The point: There are things you can do when you move toward first that are illegal.

NOTHING you can do when you move toward second is illegal.

The balk comes on what happens before you move to second..

The balk 99.99% of the time results from the pitcher's starting a pitch and stopping it so he can throw to second. Violagtion of 8.05a.

The .01% occurs when the umpire goes to sleep.
