Courtesy runner and 8-10-E

ASA code. Coach is running DP/flex, flex is the pitcher. DP bats, gets on base and coach comes out and subs the flex for the DP, then requests a courtesy runner for the pitcher. Is this legal in ASA? 8-10-E says no courtesy runner for the DP if batting for the pitcher or catcher, but does not make mention if the pitcher or catcher are substituted in for the DP.

FED it is illegal and have case book citation. Can not find in ASA rule book where this is specifically addressed. Does anyone have rule citation or a case book study from ASA that addresses this.

"8:10:B - If a substitute enters in the following half inning and gets on base, should the pitcher or the catcher re-enter, no courtesy runner can be utilized for the pitcher or the catcher in that half inning."

I have read 8-10-B, the pitcher has not been substitued for nor have they re-entered.

This situation happened in RKBs game on Saturday, and I was the UIC at the time.

It was allowed in the game. I know that it is not allowed in HS ball.

We need a rule citation or referral to an official interpretation, please.

Sorry. Either misread or misinterpreted post. Disregard my early reply.

The rule is the same, so why wouldn't the application be the same?

FED 8-9 Art.2 Last sentence requires the pitcher or catcher to bat. ASA has no similar requirement as far as I can see or read. But as usual I could be incorrect.
