Expulsion - NCAA
Since I am getting back into officiating some NCAA women's matches this fall it occurred to me that I should actually read the rulebook . Under Rule 6.1.2.3.1 Expulsion, it states that "Expelled players or substitutes must remain on their team bench for the remainder of the current set". However, it does not say if those expelled players are permitted to participate in any subsequent sets (if played).
I am assuming (I know, a dangerous thing!) that they are permitted to play after the conclusion of the set in which they are expelled. I see in 6.1.2.4 that players who are disqualified from the match are also not permitted to participate in the subsequent match. So that leads me to believe that players who are expelled are permitted to play in subsequent sets of the same match. Correct? |

Yup. If they're expelled, it only applies to the set in which the offense occurred.
6.1.2.3 "...repeated or rude conduct toward officials, opponents, other team members or spectators results in expulsion of a team member from the set in which the offense occurred, and is recorded on the scoresheet." |

Yes. With rare exceptions, sanctions are done being served once the set is over. Exceptions include a disqualification, and the fact that a second expulsion results in a disqualification (while you are eligible to play the next set, the cloud remains if you do it again).
