Line Judge Involvement

1st night of district tournament action was not eventful. Last night, the higher seed won 2, then the lower seed won two. One of the lower seeded team's servers was close to the line often. With the score 16-16, she stepped squarely on the line prior to contacting the ball on her service. I waved the flag for probably ten hits before the R1 saw me. The final was 19-17 for the higher seed. A long time to stand in the corner.

When I did line judging for NCAA Division 1 - a flag that is not seen by the R1 can be "heard" much eaiser. Make sure you are whipping the flag so it can be heard as well as seen.

The other 2 officials saw me doing navy signals and caought the attention of R1. I finished up last night doing a district final. Basketball officiating is in my blood. OOB calls we point to the spot. I did that once before raising the flag. Got booed by some fans, but I made the right call.
