1st match in the books

Pre-season tournament match. By the third game, I was feeling a bit more comfortable. I have a week until my next one.

It is the pre-season tournament. State finals are 11/15-11/19. Season ends late October.

Going to try to get mine done tonight.....if not will finish it up this weekend. It's been a long week with a couple very long days & next week isn't shaping up any better....Monday I have to be on the road at 4am enroute to Seattle, & Wed. I have a 400 mile round trip to a power plant in Eastern Oregon....

Season started yesterday for me. 4 matches in a tourney. It was a good way for me to get back into the swing of things.

Looks like a DH tomorrow night. Fortunately, I am R2 for both, though my partner asked me tonight if I wanted to try R1 yet.

Go for it - it iwould be a good experience for you.

Around here, if are partnered with a newbie early on, it is our 'practice' to throw him/her up there to get their whistle wet....no matter what was assigned.

These usually are 7th/8th grade matches and that early on, they are still very very raw, so the first team to win more than two rallys in a row wins!

In our area of sunny Southern California when working a DH it is practice for the officials to swap positions for the second match.I think it helps the newer officials immensly.Go for it and let us know how it went!

I feel like I am in mid-season already.

Last week, I had Frosh-JV-Varsity scrimmages on Tuesday; JV-Varsity matches on Thursday; kept score for JV-Varsity matches to get my PAVO certification on Friday; Jamboree on Saturday morning; College match on Saturday evening; and USAV Rules meeting on Sunday afternoon. This week I have had JV-Varsity scrimmages on Monday; JV-Varsity matches on Tuesday; Junior College match last night; JV-Varsity matches today; Junior College match tomorrow night; and Junior College Tri-match on Saturday.

I am really looking forward to the days off on Sunday and Monday!!!

It is one thing to be quite familiar with the game as a spectator, it is quite another to start from scratch, as I have done. A couple more matches and I will feel better about climbing the ladder during the JV matches.
