Interesting Gym Conditions

Had my first game the other night at a high school not too far from here and the gym wasn't what I was expecting at all. Thought the gym would be much larger than it was and would be air-conditioned. It was very small and it was a very HOT night. It had been 94 degrees that day. But it was the basketball goals that were the most interesting thing. One was cranked all of the way up and out of the way. The other was stationary and was hanging down in its regular position and clearly could be in the way of the play. Never seen one goal up and one down before. Have you?

In northern Michigan we see it all the time. I've even had tiny gyms with the cables attached to the walls and the ceiling no more than 20 feet high. I've had flags hanging over nets, dangling lights, and even balconies hanging over playing areas. The strangest gym however was the one that 1/2 dead bees kept dropping from the ceiling during play.

Yep, saw it tonight at a match I worked. The coach of the home team told me that they had tried to crank it up their last match and it had stopped partially up while directly above the endline. I said I understood and that it was better to leave it down so that we would have the judgement replay option rather than having it constantly interfering with play because it was only partially up while above a playable surface.
