From the matches I have seen this year using certified officials as line judges, the teams were better off with parents doing the job. The parents didn't miss nearly as many calls and if they did the the up ref would not be nearly as hesitant to overrule them. As bad as some of these officials are at being on the stand they are worse on the lines.

Vb Scrub....
You sound a bit bitter. Is there a specific reason why you feel that "certified" officials are not competent line judges? Do you sense that officials assigned to work the R & U positions during the varsity games may be intimidated by use of "certified" officials from the frosh game? I would be interested in your thoughts, especially regarding the negative statements regarding your fellow "certified" officials. (I know there are always some bad apples in every barrel....but, 9 times out of 10, I'll support "certified" over parents as line judges anytime!)

Thanks for all your responses. I sure wish they would use 2 officials here. It appears to be a money issue in our area. Very competitive VB in Atlanta which is only 90 miles north of us and they use 2 officials. Columbus High has the strongest program and they are a 2A school (up to 5A in Georgia). Bigger schools in Atlanta. BTW, varsity matches $30 and JV $25.
