Ok, so in a document posted 07/23/26 on NCAA Central Hub under national coordinator notes, there is:
Quote:

When the R2 whistles and calls a fault, there is no change to the R1’s current signaling technique.

So I guess I must’ve heard wrong.

On the other hand the rulebook (current and previous) has this:
Quote:
19.1.5.1 If the fault is whistled by the first referee, he or she indicates the result
of the play (point or replay) followed by the nature of the fault. The second
referee mimics the first referee’s point signal only.
19.1.5.2 If the fault is whistled by the second referee, he or she will indicate the
nature of the fault and the player at fault (if necessary). The first referee, if in
agreement, will then indicate the result of the play (point or replay); the second
referee mimics that signal.

Nothing here says anything about repeating numbers. So where
does it say it?
Doing it for so long I never thought of that until now, when I apparently misheard what that clinician said and decided to dig up…
