Net Fault or Not
Using USAV rules:
Team "A" completes their 3rd hit and as the ball is heading toward the net, it is obvious to me (R1) that the ball will not clear the net. Player from Team "B" goes up to block and in doing so, makes contact with the bottom of the net. While Player "B" is in the air, the ball hits the net and falls to the floor on Team "A" side. Would this be a Net Fault on Player "B" or not? At the time, I did not call it a Net Fault and awarded the point to Team "B". But thinking back on it and looking back at the casebook today, I think I missed this one. Maybe the Net Fault should have been called as it happened first, prior to the ball falling to the floor on Team "A" side. I welcome your comments. |
