I can't really tell much from the photo regarding obstruction. Positioning is three dimensional, not two. What appears as pictured is if PU was to start at point of the plate, he could better adjust for a 3rd base line extended call, assuming this is a play at a plate that we can't see.
The perception from the photo is he took a typical ASA 1st base line extended calling position too deep to adjust, so I imagine he could be blocked on a tag. It could be a force, but seems would still be straightlined to the throw. Then again, the whole pic looks faked, like it was photoshopped. There's no fans or spectators in the backdrop, no dugout, no base coach, no lines, no base, nothing. Just weird. |
