Thumbs up

Please email our Governor and ask him to sign Senate bill 613, which makes it a crime to not leave a sporting event when directed to do so by an official. Here is the link to the site on which you can email him. Thanks.

Generally, I am not in favor of criminalizing bad manners or other things your mother should have taught you.

I am not a law enforcement officer. I don't understand why I would want my words to take on the force of law.

The owners of the property (city, school district, private property, etc.) should have more than enough law enforcement behind trasspass laws to do what is necessary.

What is the background for the legislature to consider such a narrow law?

I'm of the same line of thought Tom is on this issue. There are enough laws, rules and regulations in place to address this type of situation as it is. You also have the issue of public v. private property in many cases, hence possible civil rights issues.

Besides, it is this simple. The individual doesn't leave, the contest is over and his/her team loses.

This sounds a lot like officiating and league associations looking to the government to effect something they don't want to do themselves. I don't believe I could support something like this.
