In re: head height.

When the NCAA recreated the wheel in describing alternate plate stances, this became an editorial flub. I believe EA may have even used the phrase FUBAR when asked about the contradictory statements.

I believe the question I posed to EA was why it was defined in NCAA Manual as top of zone with scissors, but indicated above catcher's helmet on other stances, and why there would be a difference? What follows is her answer.

Bottom line. If your stance looks over the catcher (ie MLB version Jerry Davis), your head needs to be higher than the catcher's helmet. If you are fully in the slot, no matter WHAT STANCE you use, head height can safely and effectively (and most would agree MOST effectively) at the top of the zone irrespective of the catcher's helmet; the catcher simply doesn't affect your view when you are in the slot (why, isn't that exactly why you are in the slot to begin with??).
