If anyone else is involved in their high school varsity playoff schedule, I would like to wish you luck in your games.

I tried to post about my televised game, but you needed subscription access. So I'll post these photos, and see if this works. Feedback, if possible, is welcome.

Have you ever compared you set position for LH slot to that for the RH?

I noticed the same thing Mike did - compare your plate stance left & right side. It also looks like your head may be too low, this will make that outside, top of the knee pitch tough to call.

yeah, on this particular one I seem much more open on that left handed set up. I'm usually not that open and this was the only left handed batter photo I could find. I'm not usually like that.

As far as being low, I disagree. I'm at the top of the zone, and I feel I get a great look. But I do appreciate your feedback on that. Anything else?

Looks good overall. As others have stated, set up a bit higher. Bottom of your chin should not be lower than the top of the catcher's helmet.

Hem your plate pants an inch or two longer.

I'm not sure what that emblem is on your ball bag, but here in NYSSO, there shouldn't be any. Though I don't think anyone else will pick up on that ;) Then again, I only realized that because both ball bags look empty. What's up with that? You don't want to look foolish stalling a game because you "have no balls." That's what the top-notch NCAA umpire did on tv last night despite being in a "real" ball park and having two ball bags and the defense taking a conference right before she ran out of balls.

Your height looks fine, eyes at the top and just outside the zone.

On the call at the plate, the left ball bag may have been empty, I can't remember nor tell. Though it does look empty. But the right ball bag had "one ball" in it. This at bat was a big one in the game and right before this play the girl fouled off two balls out of play before she hit a shot in the hole that the third baseman (yeah, it was that kind of incredible play) snagged, spun 360 and gunned this girl down at the plate.

I am sure I'll see you in the summer, but it would be a nice surprise if I were to see you sooner upstate, let's say. I ended up being ranked number 4 in the county. Playoffs in my county (weather permitting) begin tomorrow.

on the out call at the plate, you seem to be quite close to the plate.

the catcher does you no service in her setup. when i get one likee her, i know i am in for an uncomfotable game.

solid on the rh setup and while i agree your eye level is ok, some will ding you for head height as others pointed out.

you hooked em on the lh serup.

In re: head height.

When the NCAA recreated the wheel in describing alternate plate stances, this became an editorial flub. I believe EA may have even used the phrase FUBAR when asked about the contradictory statements.

I believe the question I posed to EA was why it was defined in NCAA Manual as top of zone with scissors, but indicated above catcher's helmet on other stances,and why there would be a difference? What follows is her answer.

Bottom line. If your stance looks over the catcher (ie MLB version Jerry Davis), your head needs to be higher than the catcher's helmet. If you are fully in the slot, no matter WHAT STANCE you use, head height can safely and effectively (and most would agree MOST effectively) at the top of the zone irrespective of the catcher's helmet; the catcher simply doesn't affect your view when you are in the slot (why, isn't that exactly why you are in the slot to begin with??).

Can you see the far corner of the plate while you're in your slot? From either side of the plate? If so, your head height doesn't matter. +1 Steve and +0.5 Mike.
