Varsity game runners on first and second my partner is out by third. The batter lays a perfect bunt spinning fair on the first base line.I jump out see her jump over the ball and beat the throw to first.everyone seems happy except my partner is yelling dead balland tells me the bunt grazed the back of the batters foot in fair territory and she is out.Of course the coach is livid wanting to know why I didn't see it.Would you guys have made that call?

I hope that I would have been watching runners for Interference and fielders for Obstruction, and then the batter runner and the ball. I wouldn't have made the call from the bases unless it was really obvious that the plate ump missed it.

If the base umpire notices the ball hit the batter he should make the call. When you said your partner was behind third I hope you met on the third base side of the shortstop. He would only be behind the third baseman if you had a three person crew.
