NFHS used to (changed about 4 or 5 years ago, I think
) have the diagonal from 1B to 3B be the determining line for a fair ball instead of the base lines from 1B to 2B to 3B. If I remember correctly, the rule was similar to the NFHS rule in baseball.So, in Rachel's OP, the old NFHS rule would have been fair ball. Now, it is a foul ball as it is in most if not all other codes.
