Catcher's interference?

Catcher's OBS if I believe the catcher prevented the batter from hitting the pitch in the FP game.

In SP, dead ball.

Please clarify "prevented the batter from hitting the pitch", unless you just mean close enough to the plate for the batter to reach, as oppose to heading toward a distance beyond reach.

How about prevented the batter from legally hitting the ball?

In otherwords (the way I would call it), if the ball would never reach the plate or was heading toward a foul line away from the plate (as in a ball that catches the pitcher's leg as she is delivering) - I would NOT have obstruction.

However if the ball was heading, and would come to a position where the batter could hit it, I would have obstruction.....

It would have to be really obvious that the batter would not be able to hit the ball without leaving the batter's box. Then again, there is no rule requiring the bat to be in the batter's hands at the time contact is made.

I agree..... or at least that's what I thought untill I read Cecil's comment.... So I thought I would illustrate some obvious examples...
