How long do you require control for a tag?

What about a thrown ball "caught" (e.g. F3) with glove on ground, possible trap. If the fielder brings glove and ball up immediately, that's control. But if delayed, what time or move would create doubt in your mind that the ball was trapped on the ground and not controlled?
