Side note: Lori's from Seattle...

We're pretty proud of her. Again.

Interesting is that none of the umpires selected came out of the Super Regional umpire groups but did work the regionals.

The SUIP went with a different model this year, giving the WCWS umpires a week (well 10 days) to recover, make travel arrangements, clothing orders, etc. If they had worked a super regional, some of them would have arrived home on Sunday or Monday, then arrive in OKC on Wednesday.

I suspect this will be the model of the future.

Anybody see the play at home, I think it was the UCLA-UF game. I caught a quick replay, so I'm not sure who the players were.

The runner reached in on the plate, but I have no idea how the umpire saw whether the catcher tagged the runner who ended up sliding up to (and may against) the umpire.

ASA Hall of Fame Stadium is looking pretty good.

Larger cut-out for the plate area, regular fences and warning track.

So, how does a Tucson umpire catch a Tucson school for the opening day?
