Injured batter
This is middle school ball. I don't even know which set of rules we follow.
Batter swings, ball hit her hands and goes backward. No problem. Strike. However, as the batter got set for the next pitch the pain started sinking in. Before the next pitch, she's basically in tears. Coach finally calls time and now you can see she's really in pain. She goes to the dugout. Now, what's the rule on subbing? Another batter ended up taking her place with the existing count, but the PU asked (seemed to) the opposing coach if that was okay. He might have just been telling her, but I heard her say "that's fine". A couple other parents weren't sure either. Thanks |

Speaking ASA, no problem. Sub assumes the count, and we continue play from there.

Dave I haven't decided if I should call it from the dugout or the outfield. Apparently, both have really great views! Screw green, it ain't easy being blue! I won't be coming here that much anymore. I might check in now and again. |

I believe the same is true for NFHS rules as well.

A sub assumes the status of the replaced player at the time of the substitution, regardless of what it is.
