It's just a guess

I love it! Watching the Syracuse-Louisville game. The blue is calling a good pitch on the outside corner a strike and Cheri Kempf must think it is off the plate because she said, "the umpires line up in what they call the slot, so they are just guessing on the outside unlike being right in line with the inside (or something like that)". Got to love sportscasters, and Cheri was a pitcher!

I wish people would think about geometry. If you have a right handed pitcher with a right handed batter, and the catchers glove does not pass the inside line of the opposite box, with a ball that is coming in straight or inside to outside or screw you must have a strike. A coach was on me one game about where the catcher was catching the ball. So after the game I went and got yellow caution tape and proved my point. It's all geometry my friends.

I hope you went and retrieved the coach from the parking lot from which s/he had been banished to for "being on you" about balls and strikes!

Yellow caution tape...

Have to admit, my equipment bag is lacking in that regard. Probably need stakes and a hammer to be really effective, though, huh?

Preferably wooden stakes...

I haven't decided if I should call it from the dugout or the outfield. Apparently, both have really great views!

Screw green, it ain't easy being blue!

I won't be coming here that much anymore. I might check in now and again.

It was rec and I grew up with this guy. But throughout the NCAA game I mentioned Cheri Kempf went on and on. Just thought it was funny.

I was never all that good with geometry. But let me make sure I've got the other part correct.
If it's rec ball, and I grew up with the coach, it's OK if the "coach was on me" during a game "about where the catcher was catching the ball."
Sorry, no smiley face. I loose my sense of humor when a coach (even if I grew up with him) starts questioning my zone. Rec ball, travel ball, 18U Gold, NCAA, you name it....questioning my zone never brings a smile to my face...or a roll of yellow caution tape out of my car after the game to conduct a geometry lesson.

Really... KJUmp lighten up. It was Rec. I have done this long enough to know when to and when not to pull the trigger. I guess this was a HTBT.
