Titanium, aluminum, and carbon fiber

This isn't a bat thread.

I just wanted to update all of you who have given me a whole lot of support in the 54 weeks since I had my leg amputated. The short version of the story ... amputation was due to far too much radiation to fight six rounds of cancer, and the long recovery time was a result of self-inflicted complications (I was stupid and I fell). Yesterday, I walked out of Hanger Prosthetics, carrying my crutches.

This is just my "starter leg." I might be able to use it on the bases, but there isn't enough flexibility at the knee to get set behind the plate. Still, the carbon fiber foot and titanium connectors are pretty high tech. I'm ready to re-enter the butt-kicking contests. Although my leg doesn't have a 2004 ASA certification mark, it does have a Pensacola Softball Officials Association logo!

Built in shin guard, eh??? Clever.

Actually, I know it has been quite the trip, and I am proud that you had the courage to walk this road.

Larry,

Get Nancy to match you socks better when she folds the laundry.

Love,
