Getting your attention

What gets your attention on the field? What really stands out?

With me, my eyes probably get real big when I see a missed base, offense or defense.

Twice this year, I have seen the SS not contact 2B for a force while trying to hurry to catch the back end of a double play. There was no doubt and the one team that did try to put up an argument didn't deny it was the right call, but the fact that I made it.

It is just something that, for some reason, really stands out and grabs my attention when watching a play.

A lightning-fast runner on 1B in a two-umpire system and a slapper at bat. Oh boy, we're going to have something happen quick!

That's interesting. We don't talk about it much, but I place a lot of emphasis on being aware of a player and his/her abilities and trends.

In local leagues, I will take a position, at times, based as much on what I know about the batter as what is prescribed.

Well, gotta admit - a real attention getter ... rarer than it should be...

I always did enjoy when you go to your water bottle hanging on the fence and a hot lil mommy in her shorty shorts is sitting on the other side, low in a folding chair, and ...

Yeah, along with missed bases, game situation is a hot button - what should happen if..., what are players positioning for & other things along those lines.

Look back rule and all that it implies

(often over look and mis-understood)

Steve's same quick-runner in a R1-R3 situation.
When they steal B2, mostly (about 80%) 1st base was left too soon!

And all coaches complain (if you called it) that your focus must be on 3th base, not on 1st Is that a guilty-statement or not?

Look back rule, leaving early, interference ... all pop my eyes out of my skull. I live for the immediate dead ball call for some kind of offensive screw up!
