Welcome RGV. Ignore the Yankee from Delaware in all matters geographically oriented.

You will learn much from these boards. And, believe it or not, even from the Delaware Yankee. You will find that he, and Wadeintocalifornia may be a little cantankerous from time to time, but that is their nature because we all know that deep down they both wish they, too, were from Texas.

With the amount of Californians flocking here (including myself), I can understand that. My California license plates have not been well received out on the road.

Yeah, but who has time to buy a shotgun rack these days?

That's because y'all go too slow. In Texas, if all six wheels are touching the ground (note, I didn't say pavement), you are going too damn slow!

This is the best site out there for softball umpires. Welcome RGV!

As far as geography goes--I grew up in MD, lived in VA, PA, FL, CA, Italy, VA again, LA, and finally picked FL. I wasn't born here ... but I got here as soon as I could.

I think that is the only one on your list without a state income tax, isn't it?

BTW, who said you were grown up?

Eh...if we are going to be technical here, I was born/raised in North Carolina, and have lived in many other places before settling in Texas.

Welpe,

do not keep that plate too long. down there in texas they like to give tickets to people who do not get a texas one within 30 days. they might just stop you and ask you.

Welcome RGV

pffft... as long as the out of state plate has not itself expired, they won't stop you for that; just be careful what you say if they stop you for anything else; and my experience is (I moved to TX from IA) they even ignore expired out of state plates. Just don't get a TX driver's license and try to keep your out of state plates; it'll be hard to explain that if you get stopped for speeding, etc. Otherwise, you "just moved". But, I even got away with having a TX DL and IA plates... told 'em it was my wife's car and SHE just joined me in TX! But, I wouldn't recommend that...

And, my daughter lives in the DFW metroplex and has been driving a car with MN plates for 6 years. My SIL just sold a car that had MN plates that he had been driving in TX for 3 years.
