Quickee Mens FP question

Mens FP is irrelevant... but

Scenario 1...Past ball bounces off hard backstop & hits batter. Obviously not a HBP, but dead ball?

Scenario 2... what if it was a 3rd strike? Interference with an U3K?

Ball never hit the ground before hitting the batter (also not relevant, just illustrating the speed of the pitch)

Scenario 1 is what happened... I didn't kill it.

(sorry for accidentally tacking this on another post, instead of a new thread)

Without a runner, does it make a difference?

If there was a runner, then you need a play for there to be INT. AND you need an act of hinderance by the batter.

Unfortunately, by rule, it would be INT. Of course, since the backstop doesn't meet the specs of an official playing field, a ground rule could be effected PRIOR to the beginning of the game to allow for this problem.

Good point with the ground rules (my first game on this field, & playoffs are just starting)

In scenario 1, I'm asking about the dead ball in case of a steal (would I be sending him back to 1b).

Thanks Mike
