Although not likely, the fielder may not bother to catch the "easy" pop up right in front of them.
In the heat of the moment, fielder's brain may register "hmm, IFF, batters out - Ok, I'll just go to the dugout because there are already 2 outs." Obviosly, not a correct thought, but................. |

Is that how they ended up shooting at each other?

As long as we are on the Infield (one word) Fly Rule, two questions, neither about hunting.
1) What is your thought/limit for separating a fly from a line drive in the case of a blooper? 2) Do you lean toward calling IFR or not calling it if in doubt about question 1? Please ignore location, effort, etc.; just about fly or not. Yes, the definition is any ball in flight, but for IFR purposes a line drive is not considered.

Dave I haven't decided if I should call it from the dugout or the outfield. Apparently, both have really great views! Screw green, it ain't easy being blue! I won't be coming here that much anymore. I might check in now and again. |
