Government service. Hmmm...

I've worked for various local cities or counties for over 11 years now. Never went into the military. Does that count?

USMC reserve 77-83 Ooh-rah! To borrow the ad line from the Marines regarding the 535, "we are looking for a few good men" or women. You would think out of 300MM we could find 535 who would actually do the right thing rather than the politically correct, or self serving. What ever happened to the citizen legislator. We need to get back to that rather than career politicians.

When I was a "young boy", the Neth's not only had a career army. All male 18yr were tested and (if tested OK) had to serve for 18 months. Only those who were still at school, could serve later.
Well after another 7 years in school and university, I finally had to go in the army. Granddad served in WW-II and worked/battled in the resistance. He was the last male in our family! My dad, his 4 brothers, their 10 sons, my brother and myself didn't serve in the army! Several reasons, all by law submitted.

The young boys in the Neth's now have it easy; nowdays we only have an army of volunteers...
As my dad said: "Imagine it was war and nobody was going there..."
I feel sorry for all widows and mums with fallen son(s); The War is not ours, let the politicians fight it theirself...

Still in the Army with 22 years of service under my steadily growing belt. Can't keep up with the young kids the way I used to, so I'm throwing in the towel next year to work on my goatee or a fu man chu.

I grew a beard one time when I had relaxed grooming standards but Household 6 (The Wife) didn't care for it so the goatee is the compromise that we live with.

Grew a beard out of boot camp in '71 and haven't been without since. Most people I know, including wife, have never seen me without one.

Hmmm, November 10th you say. Would that include a Semper Fi?

Yeah, that's why the Marine mascot has a flat face.....from running into the bumpers when chasing all those parked cars

Sorry, just couldn't help it.

Trust me, there is not a marine on the face of the earth of which I am jealous.
