Whats up with the silver pants?

Seeing more and more of these lately... they look heather gray, but with this weird @ss silver shimmer to them? is this because of the way they press them?
I guess I could ask them myself, but some people get SO defensive.
I checked my Honigs order that came in this week and my new pants are looking quite "normal"

I noticed that with some work pants that are heather grey (I don't do fast pitch so no need for heather grey umpiring pants), that sometimes if the wrong temperature or fabric is set on the iron, the pants give off this silver shimmer you talk about. I blame the iron manufacturers for not considering the even widening array of fabric we have in our daily lives!

When I see the "shimmering silver" they are usually the $15 wally world pants.. and they are not even close to heather gray. They are pretty much attrocious.

It's probably the brand of the iron. Some brands, no matter what you set it on, the damn temperature is the same!

You know, they do make electric irons now; that's what the wire is for... you plug it in... you don't have to keep putting it on the stove anymore!

I remember those... we used it for a door stopper.

You're supposed to take your pants off BEFORE you iron them

Is it the umpires that use Leather Lustre on the shoes and belt. They just forget to take their pants off before applying

I have to agree with wade on this one. Most, if not all, of the shimmery silver looking pants I have seen are darker than heather gray, and are of a Wal-Mart type brand. I called two games the other night with a guy who was wearing some.

As far as my basketball officiating slacks and my baseball and fastpitch softball slacks, I dryclean only. They come back with a nice sharp crease that has staying power.

I'm a drycleaner too.

Amen to that! I have a really nice front-loading washer machine that does an excellent job on just about everything. I've thrown down comforters that are dry clean only, and they come out perfectly.

I wash my uniforms separate from the rest of my clothes, and I set the washer to delicate. Never had any problems.
