Staning up?

We have some umpires that verbalize then bring the feet together and then mark the strike. I was at an ASA national and was taught to not move the feet, just come out of the squat and mark it high after verbal. I have been teaching this to our association. Did I just have a weird UIC or is this the way it is supposed to be done?

I used to have some, too. I asked them if they weren't forgetting to click their heels, too; also a few comments about "Schultz", and if they knew nothing.

That visual got them to change (although with younger umpires today, I doubt they would get my point).

Hey, I'm one of those younger umpires, and I know a good Hogan's Heroes reference when I hear one!

Screw green, it ain't easy being blue!

I won't be coming here that much anymore. I might check in now and again.

I didn't think Wade lived in Santa Cruz.

Wait, there's more than one Texas? Now I'm confused.

Interestingly enough, the strike mechanic is the same here. I'm sensing a trend. As an aside, I am not a fan of the nearly 180* hammer mechanic. It looks like the umpire is trying to grab something out of the sky.
