So, if anyone wants to set up a chat during the day CAT (central african time) let me know. :-)

It's been two years since I last posted, just to update. Still alive, still in the DR Congo, still teaching, not a softball in sight, would love a new rule book, it online anywhere? Just for nostalgia's sake, since I'm still the entire American community in town I don't see me officiating any games soon.

Okay, out of curiosity...

What the hell are you doing in Congo?

Screw green, it ain't easy being blue!

I won't be coming here that much anymore. I might check in now and again.

What? You can't organize a local league there just to keep you in umpiring shape???

If he does, he'll have the easiest time umpiring games, because none of the coaches will know the rules.

If only that argument also worked here...

Somehow, I have the feeling, that even over there, they believe the hands are part of the bat!

Oh come on, when did not knowing the rules ever stop a coach from expressing his opinion? They're not called AA for nothing.

Why am I here? To get a good tan? Who knows, ex Peace Corps volunteer who got a bee in his bonnet to go back. Of course 20 years as an ASA ump might have driven me to it as well. Maybe I just wanted to get as far away from "c'mon blue" as I could and believe me, I'm very far from there. If you want to see some photos go to kasaioccidental.com. I'll be adding some from a road trip soon.

Actually no, touching a ball with your hands is only allowed by the goalkeeper...
