compression tights
For this spring, I was wondering if there are any clothing co's that produce a compression full leg length tight with a cup pocket?
I always wear compression tights when I work plate, and always have to wear seperate compression shorts with a cup pocket. Just wondering if anyone makes anything like this because it would be much more comfortable... |

Also, UltraJoc makes one.
Personally, I just keep wearing the compression shorts. Any particular reason you want the full-length?

For me, less leg irritation from the shin guards.

Honigs has long socks that are amazing under the shin guards. The Under armor soccer socks also do the same job, and if you have an Under armor outlet around or near you they are usually 3 for around 5 dollars.
I forgot my special compression shorts a few years back and put my cup in a regular sock and draped the sock over the top of the compression shorts and it has worked great ever since. I get a couple of strange looks in the locker room/parking lot when I change, but no one should be looking there anyhow. |

I've tried regular soccer socks with compression shorts, and found them to a lot hotter than the commpression tights. I haven't tried underarmor brand, though.

compression gear
I've read in a couple of threads about compression gear, which I'm not really familiar with. I'm curious to know how many of you guys/gals wear this equipment, what kinds, etc.
Apparently there are shorts, pants, shirts, socks. How are these things to wear when it's real hot, or in the chill of early Spring games. I'm in New Hampshire and we usually start in April. Not unusual to do a game with temperatures in the low 50s. And in July and August, we do have the occasional 100 degree weekend. I have flat feet and they get tired and sore if I'm working a lot of games at a tournament. I was wondering if compression socks would help alleviate some fatigue. Also, shorts - if it would help avoid that uncomfortable jock rash. Figured I'd add on to this existing post instead of starting a new one. Thanx for your inputs and opinions.

Well, this thread is going straight down the TMI road, but... screw it.
Personally, I wear the Shock Doctor compression shorts ($25 each at ump-attire.com) with the Shock Doctor cup in the built-in pouch. Lately, it's been 90+ degrees every day out on the field with at least 60% humidity (usually closer to 90%), and I'm wearing my navy Fechheimers. I never feel "too hot" down there, though I use a bit of Gold Bond to help keep things cool and dry. WAY more information than you needed to know, but hey... It's all part of the profession.

You should try the socks that Honig's has.
They are Thorlo, plate socks. A little expensive but once you use them you will wonder why you ever wore anything else, especially if you are working an all day tournament.

How do these socks hold up? When I was still skiing, I had picked-up a few pair of Thorlos at Steamboat. Unfortunately, they wore worse than the ASA 3-ring knee-highs. Don't know whether it was the brand or the construction, but I'm not inclined to invest in them again barring new data. |
