When I was still skiing, I had picked-up a few pair of Thorlos at Steamboat. Unfortunately, they wore worse than the ASA 3-ring knee-highs. Don't know whether it was the brand or the construction, but I'm not inclined to invest in them again barring new data.

I used them a lot, even wore them when I was working basketball because I liked the support.

As for wear, I still have almost all of them I ever purchased that I use for boot socks when I go walking in the woods.
None of them ever wore out at the points where the guards rubbed or where the plate shoes hit. I also don't remember any of them ever developing the little pills that some types do.

As an aside, they were really good at NOT holding a smell like some types do.

Your may get different results, but I think you will be pleased if you try them
