The lines will cause more arguements because umpires still won't see all the violations and judging whether the entire foot is outside the line at full speed still will be difficult. That said, it is a rule sadly lacking in enforcement and consistency and both are needed.

The phrase in the article "If the batter does not reach first base safely and all other base runners safely advance at least one base" need editing.

Similar to baseball's experiement to balk line.

They need to be moving in the other direction with IPs.

Its already strict enough with the penalty too harsh.

It is not a bad idea, but quite impractical. Like all other line, they would quickly become distorted and obliterated just through the pitcher's post-release steps and play.

And C-One is correct. This would have to be an afterthought for the umpire. If s/he is watching the pitching lane, s/he is not watching the pitch.

Would love to see him behind the dish with any Team USA pitcher in the circle. I would also like to see the look on his face when he is watching where the foot lands at the same time Nuevy's glove pops from a 65 mph fastball. It better sound like a strike, 'cause that's the only way he would know.

This proposed rule change is proof once again that coaches are clueless as to what it takes to be an umpire. Sadly, with NCAA rules being primarily coach driven, it will probably pass.
