As the weather gets colder...

I long for the summer past...in Owensboro...when it was 100 plus high humidity. Those were the days!

Anyone else miss Owensboro? BTW, heard TEAM IP EVENTS cleared 10 million on the tourney!

Ya I missed it all together....cause of work, ended up in Jasper instead!! I do know what you mean it is awful to stand around on the bases when the wind is howling and it is cold. Not sure I long for the 100+ days, but find me a spot where it is sunny and 70 everyday!!

My daughter played in a tournament a few weekends ago where the temperature dropped from the low 80's in the daytime on Thursday to around 33 at 7:00 AM Saturday AM when she arrived at the field for an 8:00 AM game. The girls didn't have to fight dew in the outfield during warm-ups... because it was FROST! The sun rose shortly after 7 and by game time it was light enough to play, and as the sun hit the outfield the frost disappeared. I told our team that they should avoid using composite bats, and think twice about the -12.5 oz drops. The other teams had a different (and not quite legal) idea. They waved their bats in front of propane heaters.

By afternoon, the temperature was in the high 60's... quite comfortable, but started dropping again by the time the girls were finished at 7:45 PM (under lights). No... we were NOT looking forward to the 8:00 AM game on Sunday, either.

I'm just glad that we discovered hand warmers last fall.

Had someone try that once, they had them stored in front of a heater. That is one reason I always feel for dents with my hand prior to ringing any questionable bats. We found one that was HOT, my partner had them hold that bat outside of the dugout and she would let them use it when it cooled down....must have been a favorite bat cause a dad stood out there swinging it to try and speed up cooling it for the next 4-5 innings....I think she let it back in around the 5th inning, I think they learned their lesson on heating bats

Nice. We are running about 10 degrees cooler here.
