How many bases?

This is a simple one, I think, but I don't know the answer. Thanks in advance. ASA FP, 14U...runners on 1st and 2nd. Batter hits line drive down 3rd base line. Girl playing 3rd is playing up for bunt. Ball hits her in right shoulder (ouch) and deflects directly into deadball territory...2 bases awarded (R1 goes home, R2 goes to 3rd). Is this the right award? I had no complaints, but for some reason I had it stuck in my head that this sitch, unlike a fielded ball thrown OOB, was a 1-base award.

Looks like your award was correct. You might be thinking of the ball going dead after getting away from a fielder on an attempted play, which is a one base award.

Up here north of the border it's a 2 base award also and don't forget the batter goes to 2nd on the 2 base award.
