Illegal pitch. Ball on the batter, any runners advance one base, I believe immediate dead ball called.

Quite sure it is an illegal pitch. Pitcher can't make a windup without immediately delivering the ball (can't find my books this minute for rule reference). Call it a ball, and advance any runners one base.

Could you give us more info on why she didn't release?

In SP the runners wont advance. Just to clarify.

Pitch or no pitch -- that depends. In USSSA slow pitch that is a nothing, in fact it is part of the pitching fun. In ASA 16in slow pitch that is also a nothing. In ASA Slow pitch that is an illegal pitch, ball on the battery, runners stay put. In ASA fast pitch that is an illegal pitch ball on the batter, runners advance. So you can see it all really depends on what game you are playing.

Of course in USSSA SP the pitcher still only has 5 seconds to release the pitch. After that it is a ball, if the batter doesnt swing at it.

I was unaware of the slo-pitch rules. I don't do any slo-pitch. I played quite a bit, but never pitched.

In LL the runners don't advance either - just a ball on the batter for the IP. I've seen coaches get around the intentional walk this way.
