Question

I have heard different opinions on the rules regarding substitution of the DP or DEFO by each other. The way I read the rules (ASA/Rule 4, Sec.3,D The reason I bring this to the forum is I heard another umpire say that the DEFO and DP can flip/flop as many times as they want.

Cool

collinb,

There is a gentlemen on this Forum that
can give you all the information you will ever
need on the DP/DEFO subject. His name is Steve
M. I obtained a copy through the website that
GulfCoastBlue maintains. http://www.eteamz.com/sites/GCBUmpire Not sure if Steve has web site or not, but he has a
great article.

collin.........

If the DP goes in for the DEFO........the DEFO is done.......BUT may re-enter once......just like a regular substitution...........

Check this out......it is a link to Steve's handout on the matter........it explains it a bit better......click on the link to the handout......if your browser won't open it......e-mail me and I can send it to you.

Collin,
How'd you make out with this? Everything understood now? Since it's been a few days, I thought I'd ask.

Steve,
Your article regarding the DP & DEFO subsituting was great.
I have a feeling of confidence in my own mind on the rule.
I've printed out the material to bring with me this Friday where SUA (Suburban Umpires Assc.) will be doing a 18U Tournament in Barrington Illinois. I've also E-Mailed this forum's link on this subject to our VP in charge of training and the UIC this weekend. Thanks for all your help. This Forum is the best tool I have for Umpiring. I have always gotten answers quickly and I view the postings daily.
