Calling OBS as plate umpire

Ok, OBS delayed dead ball, left arm straight out held in a fist. As PU I pull the mask off in my left hand as soon as something happens following a pitch. So long hit to outfield R1 from 2nd is rounding 3rd, I have mask in left hand (along with indicator) I see OBS with 3rd baseperson and signal OBS, I notice as runner crosses the plate I have onknowingly switched my mask to my right hand as I hold the left out in a fist. never noticed it before and don't think I did it on purpose!

So what do you all do in this case. Keep the mask in left hand and just hold mask straight out? Or do you move it and hold the fist out there? Just wondering what the actual proper mechanic is for this.

Thanks

Could get clumsy, all this switching back and forth of the mask.

I just signal it with my mask in my hand.

Me, too. Same with pointing fair / foul, signaling SAFE, dead ball, etc.

If you can move the mask to the right hand, which you have apparently mastered, that is fine.

I, also, signal the DDB with the mask in my left hand.

I always thought I did too, till I "caught" myself with the mask in my right hand after the play. It was weird I honestly don't remember moving it over there, I replayed it in my head and I know I took it off with my left, saw runner and next thing I know I got it in my right! One of those strange things, not a big deal I guess but I am going to try to keep it in my left!!

Thanks everyone for your thoughts.
