What color pants should I buy for ASA games? I see officialgear.com sells blue and gray. This is my first year working ASA.
Also, does it list the required uniform for umpires in the 2006 ASA rules book? |
You need to check with your local association. Either heather gray or navy blue are legal as far as ASA is concerned, but the local association usually picks one that all umpire will wear. For where I am, it is heather gray.
There are also 2 legal shirt colors... you should check on that, too. |
and YES buy the pants ASA sells....have yet to find slacks which are better in the crotch for umpires....

those darned pants
Another reason for buying them from ASA is that you can be certain you are buying the "right" pants for championship play.
To-wit: you can buy the "right" shade of heather gray from various sources. But...ASA (official gear) does not sell pleated pants. Trust me, this is going to be an issue more and more. I have yet to bust a seam in pants purchased through ASA, and I'm a pretty big guy (well, I'm a ROUND guy, and my wife must think I'm handsome at times). On the other hand, pants I have purchased from others musta been sewn with extra-crappy thread because they were no bueno por nada. |
If you are lucky enough, you will get involved with enough differnt levels and association to need both! Like me.
HS here wears heather grey. NCAA conference I work requires the blue. Fun for all! |
