I was not aware of the Dixie "red flag" rule as those set of rules are minimal or non-existant within the area that I umpire (West Michigan). I know "the flag" is for leaving base early in LL Major baseball (12 year old and under) although I have never seen it used. Other than the "Dixie" rule mentioned, there is no use, to my knowledge, for the flag within LL softball or NFHS softball.
