[ASA Co-Ed] Re-entry rule?

tonight our opposition only has 11 players so they tell the umpire at the pre-game meeting they will bat 10 and substitute in the 11th player.

The umpire was a bit insistant to the opposing captain that only a starter could re-enter the game, but ASA 4-5-A states any player can re-enter once.

Hmm, which is right?

I don't see how you got from having a substitute available to a re-entry discussion, but the umpire is not correct for ASA ball.

Why is anyone talking about RE-entry at the plate conference ... you haven't even had an ENTRY yet, much less a RE-entry.

The umpire asked both the opposing captain and me how many players we were going to bat. The opposing captian said he had 11 -- 5 guys and 6 girls -- so he would bat 10 and switch the 11th player in and out. That's when the umpire chimed in with his comment that only the starter could re-enter.

I told him we were going to use 2 EPs and left it at that.
