Do you run into coaches wearing jeans, and if you do, do you do anything about it? I run into this sometimes but have yet to do anything about it. Am I being too nice, should I inform the coach about the proper atire? What do you guys do?

I have run into coaches wearing jeans. It is about every 4th game. So far I haven't done or said anything about it. But it has been on my mind so I am thinking mentioning it from here on out.

In High School ball we press the issue and the coaches are aware that we will be. In rec leagues we leave it alone,
but in championship play they should be dressed accordingly.

This year the county athletic director( high school,Fed ) has asked us to inform any coach wearing jeans that they are not properly attired but to let them continue to be on the field. Then we are to inform our assigner who reports back to county director. Nice system that has resulted in diddly squat as far as any changes being made.

Hey, Glen & Scott

Aren't jeans considered FORMAL WEAR here in Texas?

If you are speaking Fed rules AND your state has not made some exception, check out Rule 3, Section 5, maybe Article 3. Jeans are not proper coaching attire and you must restrict that coach to the bench.

Gary,

Neatly dry cleaned and pressed, yes.[kidding of course]

However, Twice this year I have restricted the
coach to the dugout for "inproper attire". Once I was doing a game
with a team from a different chapter. She informed me that their
blues did not press this issue. I reminded her she was not playing
this game with her chapter's umpires.

[BTW, how you been Gary, long time no hear from?]

I dont think I could get away with a players attire call, much less a coaches attire call.
Uniform of choice around here goes like this; cut-offs, wife-beaters, boots, a #3 nascar hat, and a cooler.
Somebody help me with that smiley.

I always thought so. And they look better with my plate boots than those baggy gray pants!

Plate boots?

Those would be snake skin boots with the steel protection plate on the outside and make of highly polished and tooled chrome. And the long pointed toe helps protect, too!

Right?

Actually mine were made of alligator hide. However, they
kept snapping at me, so I don't wear them anymore.
