I suspect most people aware of it would whole-hearted agree with the assessment. For that many, quite a few would insist that the military wasn't allowed to win it.

That was the beginning of the, "we cannot offend anyone, must apologize for anything anyone may take offense to and, no matter what, everyone has more rights than those who lived and died for them" era in this country. Still stuck there.
