Question

NFHS Rules

1. The DP may be substituted for by a legal substitute; the
DP will not be considered as having left the game? T/F

2. The catcher unintentionally blocks the plate, impeding the
runners attempt to score. The umpire rules "no violiation"
since it was not intentional. T/F

Question as worded: True (i.e the lineup remains at 10). However, the starting DP player will have left the game.

Don't know - it may be true or it may be false, since the question is asking "the umpire did this, true?" My answer: beats me, I wasn't there.

OK, OK, the real question is "The umpire rules "no violiation" since it was not intentional. Correct? T/F"

The answer is false. Intent has no bearing on obstruction.

Tom is right on both counts, according to NFHS.

I will be attending the Regional clinc in Houston this
weekend. The one required if an umpire wants to call
any playoff games.

And brinning up the weather again, it is suppose to be
back in the 30's.

Steve,

Wouldn't the answer for 1. be ture.

The DP did not leave the game, the player left the game.

Snow and freezing rain would have an effect on one's
thinking. I know I am from Texas, but I spend three
years in Ohio, and 1 in Canada, and six months in Alaska.
So I know it can be harmful to the thinking process.

Yes.

Maybe...dunno for sure. I met quite a few people this round. The name sure sounds familiar. You should have been there. It was a good weekend indeed.

Personally, Glen, I think that the answer for number one would be true.

I have a strong feeling that he is talking about one of the many other Odessas...not the one in Texas.
