Somehow, that objective got lost in the last 4-5 days, huh?

Good job by Mick to close the 2 threads, if he did it. Nothing but bad feelings and venom coming out of them.

I agree that we should be having fun while expanding our knowledge and experience about the rules of the game and the pitfalls that come from some of the surrounding personnel/political issues.

I recently created a thread with my appreciation for those that were willing to approach difficult subjects. I also expressed displeasure with those that attempted to approach those conversations with disrespect and especially those that tempt to censor the thoughts behind them. I feel these type issues need to be addressed and if we cannot address them in this forum, then where?

That thread was censored and deleted from the board.

And since this post says about the same, I imagine it will be deleted also.

So y'all continue to have fun here. But make sure you don't broach any real issues. We can't have that.

If you need me, I'll be in the "library" reading the superficial articles in my Sports Illustrated. If I have to stick only to superficial subjects, at least SI has pictures.

I regret contributing to this negative tread I probably should have just let things alone. I did not mean for it to get so "venomous." I will try to stick to softball issues only in the future.

Greg,

I just knew you weren't that type of guy. Thank you for stating so pubically. You're a fine fellow, great umpire and I hope to see you again soon!

Elaine,
I don't regret what I said, as I believe what I said to be the truth. I do regret stating them in Public forum and doing the same thing I accused you of. I should have gone straight to you with this. I will use this forum for what I was intended in the future. Thanks for you comments and I hope there are no hard feelings.

That was my biggest problem with the moderator's locking of the other threads, as well as the deletion of the one you mention. I thought that this was a forum for serious discussion to take place regarding the myriad of issues that we as officials may face, whether it is rules interpretations, mechanics discussions, problems with game management, or "constructive criticism/feedback" of each other.

I think that the moderator leash has been just a little short lately.

And now I notice that the locked threads have disappeared as well!

Skahtboi,
I agree.
My temperament can vary from game to game, from week to week.
Some days "skippy" doesn't bother me at all, other days I may frown a little.

Censorship etc.

For at least as long as this thread is allowed to survive, just a word in defense of the board admin and moderator.

This is, fundamentally, a commercial board. While part of the reason it exists is no doubt magnanimous, there is no doubt is it also used in part to entice those of us in the sports officiating "community" to buy their product (the on-line magazine) and the other products advertized here.

Once a thread tips over the line from discussion to "real-life" retribution (specifically using the board to have an official's credentials withdrawn - an act, as I said elsewhere that places more shame on the one who pursued that punishment than on the one being punished), I think it is entirely correct for the board moderator to pull the thread down.

Angry

Yeah, but I emailed my commissioner with the URL so he could read the threads for himself, along with an original print of what I posted. Oh well, that's the way it goes.
I guess I should have given examples~~didn't think of it.

I believe that 96% of the posters on this board are open and honest folks. The other 4% can go back to 'the other board' where personal attacks abound daily!
