I use the Wilson Platinum Chest Protector. So far I have not felt anything that has bounced off it.

The K2 is certainly a fine, light weight chest protector. For a little less money you can get some fine protection in the form of All Star and Cooper's micromesh chest protectors.

Never, ever, call a FP game without a chest protector.

I wear the original Honigs model...bought it several years ago. It's quite large, but I'm a big guy (300lbs, 6'2").

It's pretty light, and has held up to the sweat really well. Like others, I wouldn't call a fastpitch game without it. It's comfortable, gives me really good protection all the way around. Comes down to about the belly button, slightly higher. Has extensions to go futher, but don't use them.

I've worn a K2 before, but like some, feel really vulnerable in it...exposes too much of my sides.

But I definitely would wear something. I called mens ball (A/Major ball) without a protector when I was younger, and stupid. Took a FB in the left collarbone area, and my arm was numb for about two innings. Felt like I was shot, trust me. Wear the protector.
