I was BSing with coach and the ump who had worked their game the night before. They tell me of a call he made the night before... hbp, on hands... ruled foul/strike because hands part of bat - didnt swing and out of zone. _Coach AND the blue_ thought the call was correct so there was no disagreement during the game on the call. I'm not even so sure they believed me that they were both wrong. I think I posted it here when it happened... but not sure. |

Reminds me of the story someone told a year or so ago.
X-2 count. Batter swings and contact is made. Ball goes into foul territory. Blue rules FOUL BALL. Offensive coach comes out and says, "The ball hit her hands, Blue." (Looking for a HBP call & first base.) Blue says, "Are you sure you want to make that claim, coach?" Coach, "Yes." Blue, "OK - DEAD BALL, STRIKE THREE." I don't know if the story was true.

Rule 8.1.F "The batter's hands are not to be considered a part of the bat."
